The Journey of Craftsmanship

At Flowbkk, each table is the result of months of patient work and many small decisions made by hand. We start with responsibly sourced slabs and allow them to settle and cure naturally before any shaping begins.

Surfaces are planed, hand‑sanded, and aligned so the grain flows as one continuous composition. Layer by layer, we build a deep, protective finish—sanding and inspecting between coats until the surface is perfectly smooth.

Once assembled, every piece is leveled, polished, and reviewed in natural light. Finally, we pack with museum‑grade materials and custom crating so your table arrives exactly as it left our workshop. This is how raw wood becomes a timeless object—crafted for daily life, built to last for generations.

Phase 1

Preparing the Wood

The journey begins with raw slabs of hardwood. Before we even touch a tool, the wood undergoes a slow and deliberate preparation process. By carefully drying and stabilizing the slab, leveling its surfaces, and aligning its natural grain, we ensure that the foundation of your table is as strong and enduring as it is beautiful.

Wood selection

The journey of every piece begins with the raw potential of the timber. We source only the finest sustainably harvested slabs, looking for unique characteristics that tell a story. From the dramatic sweep of a live edge to the intricate patterns of the grain, every selection is made with the final masterpiece in mind.

Drying Process

Each solid wood slab undergoes a meticulous drying process to ensure lasting stability. While we typically air dry our slabs for 6 - 12 months to allow for a natural, slow cure that prevents warping, we utilize specialized wood kilns for our commercial projects. This allows us to precisely control moisture levels on a larger scale.

Planing and Hand Sanding

Once the slab is dried, we plane it on both sides to create a balanced, even surface. Our craftsmen then hand-sand the entire surface, gradually refining the texture to bring out the natural grain and silky touch of the wood.

Grain Alignment

For tables made from multiple slabs or for custom designs, we carefully align the slabs so that they come from the same tree whenever possible. This creates a seamless, natural flow of the grain across the entire surface, preserving harmony in both structure and appearance.

Phase 2

Craftsmanship

This is where the transformation begins. Through careful layering, hand-applied finishes, and repeated inspection, the raw slab evolves into a work of functional art. Every stage is performed manually, blending traditional woodworking knowledge with precision techniques to achieve a flawless finish.

Hand Lacquer Finishing

Our hand-finishing process begins with a primer coat applied entirely by hand. After drying, the client’s chosen finishing color is applied manually, followed by a second coat for an even, consistent appearance.

Spray Finishing Process

Using hand-held sprayers, we evenly apply the lacquer finish in the client’s choice of natural, matte, or gloss. This ensures a smooth, controlled application that highlights the grain while sealing the wood.

Spray Finishing Process Repeated

After the first lacquer coat dries, the slab is carefully inspected. A second spray coat is applied to deepen the protection and strengthen durability, ensuring the surface can withstand daily use for generations.

Phase 3

Finishing Touches

Once the surface finishing is complete, we move to the refinement stage. Here, the table is checked, polished, and brought to perfection. Every joint, edge, and surface is inspected, adjusted, and tested until the piece meets our uncompromising standards of craftsmanship.

Finishing Touches

Our craftsmen review the entire tabletop under natural light. Any inconsistencies in drying or finish are corrected by hand, ensuring an immaculate surface.

Final Assembly

The legs and base are carefully attached, with all alignments checked and adjusted. This ensures the table is level, stable, and true to the client’s specifications.

Your Completed Product

Before shipping, we photograph the fully assembled table and send images to the client for approval. Once confirmed, the table is disassembled for professional packing and international shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Flowbkk, we carefully source premium golden acacia and select hardwood slabs from sustainable and responsible suppliers. In addition, many of our slabs come from naturally fallen trees due to storms or are legally cleared by government authorities for infrastructure projects such as road construction. This approach allows us to repurpose exceptional timber while respecting the natural environment. Every slab is hand-selected to meet our strict standards for stability, structure, and visual beauty.
Each table is handcrafted from a single solid slab, preserving the natural grain, movement, and character of the tree. The organic patterns, rich tones, and natural edges ensure that no two pieces are ever alike. Every table is a one-of-a-kind statement piece designed to last for generations.

What is the difference between live edge and straight edge tables?
Live edge tables follow the natural contour of the tree, creating an organic and free-flowing form. Straight edge tables are precision-cut to achieve clean lines and a more modern, architectural look. We offer both styles depending on your design vision.
